Sonoma's Best sign

Sonoma’s Best

There is alot going on at Sonoma’s Best such as wine tasting, eating, shopping, lodging in their cozy cottages to fun-filled festive events. My husband and I were headed out to picnic at Bartholomew Estate Vineyards and Winery for some rest and relaxation. For a good read, check out Picnic Friendly Places in Sonoma Valley. We stopped into Sonoma’s Best on the way there to order a hot reuben, dill pickle chips, and fruit salad to share. This time, we didn’t pick up any wines because we were eager to try the Bartholomew Estate Wines. However, if you like Rosé, this is your place! They are known for their abundant rosé collection, as well as providing an ample inventory of diverse local and global wines.

Glen Ellen Village Market

First, head straight back to the deli to order from Glen Ellen Village Market’s Gourmet Panini Sandwich Menu. There are over 20 gourmet paninis to choose from, or you can custom order your own if you like. We ordered the Maple Ham sandwich with brie cheese, garlic mayonnaise, sun dried tomatoes, and spring mix on focaccia bread AND a Brisket Sandwich loaded with coleslaw, pickles, sauce, cheddar cheese, and brisket. After tasting the Brisket Sandwich, we wished we had ordered two of them — they were so good! Next, we grabbed some olives from the olive bar and a couple waters for hydration which is a MUST for a day of endurance wine tasting. Practically, Glen Ellen Village Market has everything you need and more for your next picnic in wine country.

Broadway Market

Broadway Market in Sonoma for Picnic Provisions

There’s nothing fancy about Broadway Market which makes it so charming. You cannot go wrong with your order at their deli. Head to the deli to order sandwiches, grab to-go sides and main dishes. The rotisserie chicken is long gone if you don’t get there early! Do call your order in for your deli sandwich, so your order will be ready to go for your day of picnicking. They have a great wine selection too. Broadway Market hustles all day long from 5:30am — 8pm most days. It’s a downright local favorite. broadwaymarketsonoma.com

Sonoma Market

A staple in Sonoma Valley, Sonoma Market is always there for you with a friendly face and smile. I just love that they have a picnic category on their website where all you have to do is call in and order, or order online. Choose signature box lunches, build-your-own box lunches as well as artisanal cheese and charcuterie. Of course, you can always run in on the fly to pick up pre-made items or order from their deli. Whatever your picnic craving, Sonoma Market is most likely to satisfy. Their curated wine selection is also a winner.

Sonoma Cheese Factory

Picnic Provisions at Sonoma Cheese Factory

Housed in a factory that made cheeses from 1945 to 2001 in this very location, Sonoma Cheese Factory is the go-to locale in the Historic Sonoma Plaza for gourmet picnic foods. Their arrangement of cheeses are so vast, that the only challenge you might have is choosing. Grab sandwiches to go or opt for selecting your own charcuterie, cheese, wine, and olive selection for a customized experience. They even carry a few picnic accessories like picnic blankets, picnic baskets, and cutting boards. Sonoma Cheese Factory is right across the street from the Plaza, making it convenient for a day’s picnic. Bon Appetit!
